Event Details

There are few names in Vancouver that are more recognized than Arthur Griffiths. Even more rare is the high-profile impact he has had on Vancouver’s sporting – and business – scene.

Not content to sit on any sideline, Arthur has a “midas touch’ for business. Likely most well-known as the Former CEO/Chairman of Orca Bay and past owner of the Vancouver Canucks, there are few business people in Vancouver who have had such a varied and storied trail of successful ventures in such diverse industries.

Arthur was a key partner in orchestrating the funding and construction of Vancouver's GM Place in 1995 (the first privately funded stadium facility in Canada since Maple Leaf Gardens). He was a natural choice to lead Vancouver’s early Vancouver/Whistler 2010 Bid Corporation, as a Governor of the Canadian Olympic Foundation for three years, and a major advocate for sports in Vancouver. With his participation, by 1998 the 2010 Bid Corporation had raised the funds required and the right to compete as a national host venue candidate before the IOC. He was also a central figure in the vision to construct the Millennium Line, the largest infrastructure project in BC history, worth an estimated $1.2 billion.

Arthur has the been the recipient of numerous distinguished awards over the last 10 years, including 'Man of the Year' (B'Nai Brith, 1994) 'Business Man of the Year' (CCA, 2001). Now the CEO internet broadcasting portal that has garnered international attention, Cascadia Forum is pleased to have Arthur Griffiths to speak about achieving big dreams in business in Vancouver.
